Samueli Institute, an international leader in health and wellness research, will lead a series of workshops at the Military Child Education Coalition® (MCEC®) National Training Seminar in Washington, D.C. on July 29 and 30. The well-being workshops will help parents, teachers and adult allies of military children better serve military families across the country. The sessions will focus on key topics in wellness, including exercise to reduce stress, eating healthy on a budget, mindfulness in movement, and strategies to reduce and prevent childhood obesity.

“By collaborating with the military, we’ve helped shape training and treatments to improve performance, deal with pain, and cope with the trauma and stress of war,” said Samueli Institute President and CEO Wayne B. Jonas, MD. “We are honored to bring these same tools to the educators and adult allies who aid children of military families in times of stress, and support them in long term health.”
“We are proud to partner with the Samueli Institute to strengthen our military children and ensure they thrive in any environment.” Dr. Mary M. Keller, President and CEO, Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC).
The 2014 National Training Seminar will take place July 29 and 30 at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, D.C. To register for the program, or to sponsor an educator, parent or student to attend, visit MCEC at www.MiltaryChild.org.
